MsUrbanDaddy, the Gas-and-air Superhero

Childbirth, flippin’ hell!

The newest member of the UrbanDaddy family took a bow just before 2 o’clock this morning. Mum and baby are doing just fine.

It’s been quite a night. And quite a day, also.

Some half-baked thoughts:

*In the delivery room, I felt like the living embodiment of uselessness, yet MsUrbanDaddy says she couldn’t have done it without me.

* Either gas and air is the purest, most effective dopamine known to medical science, or MsUrbanDaddy is actually a superhero.

When the baby was born I actually laughed out loud. How is this feat even possible? It’s verging on preposterous!

Mothers of the world, I salute you.

  1. Yaaaaaay! Massive congratulations for the whole family. So pleased all are well. Really excited for you all. Masses of love from the WyKiddys xxxxx

    • Thanks Caitlin. 36 hours on, and we’ve been well and truly reintroduced to life with a newborn. I’m trying to convince myself that sleep is over-rated. Failing. Love to the WyKiddys and see you soon. x x

  2. That’s twice now you’ve made me cry mr urban daddy. First poems for your eldest, now salutes to mothers across the globe. Whatever next. Lovely. X

    • Hi Kate, glad you’re enjoying the blog! There may be more poetry in the next few weeks (maybe I’ve been listening to too much Saturday Live on Radio 4!) Love to you, Pete and the little’uns.
